Captivated by the Dragon
From 4 June, Museum Beesel will be showcasing the exhibition “Captivated by the Dragon”, which is dedicated to the 7-yearly dragon stabbing fest in Beesel. This exhibition is ties in with the “Draaksteken”, the open-air play that depicts the legend of St George and the Dragon and is performed in Beesel once every 7 years, in August this year it’s on again. The exhibition tells the story of the rich history of the dragon stabbing in Beesel and its significance for the community of Beesel. On the basis of historical photos, audiovisual images, explanatory texts and costumes, the visitor is taken into the legend, the Dragon Stabbing of the past and now, the Children's Dragon Stabbing and how the game is performed in various European cities. The exhibition also shows ceramic art on the theme of dragon stabbing.
For this exhibition, designed by Mr. Stan Linssen, ShowTheme supplied AV technology, we also provided the programming of the BrightSign players with touchscreens supplied by us. Museum Beesel provided the content and the layout of the pages themselves, after which we added the desired functionality.
The exhibition “Captivated by the Dragon” is on display: From June 4 every Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00 in the Aad Raodhoes (Markt 1) in Beesel. The Museum is also open at the times mentioned above on the days that “het Draaksteken” takes place. The exhibition will last until the end of September and the admission is free.
