A control system is found in almost all AV installations, attractions and experiences nowadays, but what does such a control system exactly do?
A control system is the central hub that monitors and controls all facets such as audio, video, lighting, animatronics, special effects, sensors, etc. It has control over all equipment and can make actions take place at the right time and/or react to changes.

In an AV installation in a meeting room, the control system ensures that several actions take place on a single button press, for example, the projector is switched on and the correct source is selected, the projection screen lowers, the audio installation is switched on, the lighting is dimmed and the blind closed. The user has met all the conditions for the optimal start of a presentation with a single push of a button.

In case of an attraction in an amusement park or experience in a museum, the same thing happens, but on a larger scale and with more complex programming., where the control system is often referred to as showcontrol. At the start of the day, the staff can switch on all equipment with a simple push of a button, control commands and sensors then check whether all conditions are met. If a problem occurs somewhere, the technical service is automatically informed. The show can then be started, manually by an operator or automatically based on detection sensors. The playback of the show then takes place fully automatically, quality is guaranteed over and over again, without the risk of human operating errors. The actions in the show (also called cues) are programmed on a timeline, which ensures that all events take place at exactly the right time. When a show require extremely accurate timing use timecode, this timecode signal is fed to all essential equipment for frame accurate synchronized timing.
