Project: Seacon roundabout

In honor of their 25th anniversary this internationally operating transport company in 2010 give the order to produce this unique piece of artwork.
After five years the artwork located on the roundabout “Groot Boller” in the city  Blerick (NL) made by Hans Reijnders from Venlo needed an update. Due intensive lorry traffic the LED light lines were damaged and complete replacement was the only solution. The old LED light lines where produced with a white support material with a smoked glass diffuser film mounted on top, to match the appearance of the artwork. Due weathering and UV radiation from the sun this diffuser film let loose causing ugly image, furthermore this film reduced the LED light output.

Fortunately, developments in LED area continuously improved, nowadays there are new LED light lines available, produced especially in black and fully IP65 and UV resistant, eliminating the need of an additional diffuser film. Meanwhile, the work has been completed and the original appearance of the artwork has been restored with contemporary technology.
